At a meeting of the Skegness Conservative Men’s Branch Committee on February 1, 1965, the chairman, Dr David Pendrigh, referred to a previous meeting when the branch had elected Dr D. Fraser Menzies MBE as its president after having served as its chairman for 16 years.
He noted that the branch members had intimated that they would wish to mark in a particular way Dr Menzies’ years of loyal service. He asked for their support in his action in presenting an inscribed silver cigarette box to Dr Menzies on the occasion of the annual supper. The committee was unanimous in its support. Dr Menzies said how completely surprised and delighted he had been to receive the gift on the night in question and warmly thanked all members present.
