At a meeting of the Skegness Men’s Branch committee on Monday, October 2, 1967, it was reported that the guest speaker for the Men’s Annual Supper would be Lord Windlesham, whom, it was stated, was “comparatively unknown”.

The minutes went on to record that it was difficult for the Member of Parliament Mr Peter Tapsell, himself a young backbencher, to obtain a more well known personality until he himself was better known.
