At the Skegness Conservative Men’s Branch AGM held on Monday, March 2, 1970, the chairman Cllr Dr David Pendrigh, commented on the increasingly favourable political climate that the Conservatives had enjoyed during the past year. This had been reflected locally by the keen interest shown by members at the various social functions. The highlight had been the Annual Supper when a mixed audience of more than 500 members at the Imperial Cafe had been addressed by the Rt Hon Enoch Powell, MP for Wolverhampton South West.
