Don’t let Reform put Labour in again
A vote for Reform boosts Labour, Skegness Branch chairman Cllr Dick Edginton told the branch AGM.
He said: “Politically the rise of Reform is tricky for us. It splits the Tory vote and raises the possibility of a second term of this dreadful Labour Government.
“Our message must be that a vote for Reform is a boost for Labour.”
Cllr Edginton reported that all eight branch meetings and the Conservative Policy Forum meetings since the last AGM had been held at the North Shore Hotel which was an excellent venue. Numerous fundraising events had also been held.
He continued: “I have mentioned on several occasions my concern over poor attendance at meetings. I urge members to come along, join in the discussions and help devise local strategy to combat the changed political environment we face.”
He thanked all the officers for their support and the North Shore Hotel staff for their help.
Deputy Chairman (Policy and Campaigning) Cllr Carl Macey said the Party was beginning the fight for the new Mayoral authority with the excellent candidate Cllr Rob Waltham, and what was likely
to be Lincolnshire County Council’s last ever elections. These elections would probably be among the hardest the Party had ever fought, with Reform likely to be the biggest threat.
“It is more important than ever to work as one Conservative team, to ensure the Party’s candidates are elected and to continue to see the millions of pounds of investment, stability, and delivery of projects into the Skegness area.”
Deputy Chairman (Membership and Finance) Cllr Julie Sadler reported that the year’s fundraising events had made a profit of £740.50. These comprised three excellent Supper Club events at the North Shore Hotel and a coffee morning at the Vine Hotel. She said the branch needed to “try harder” to make more money in the coming year.
